Benefit Event:
Altruistic Joy and Equanimity

Sharon Salzberg

Gina Sharpe

Saturday, November 20, 2010 -

$50

10am–5pm

This day will focus on the development of altruistic joy (joy in the happiness of others) and equanimity. These qualities diminish jealousy, envy, and habitual reactions of holding onto and pushing away our life experience. They open us to greater appreciation, gratitude, and balance. Through meditation practice, dialogue, and discourse, we will explore these qualities together. Suitable for both beginning and more experienced meditators. The proceeds of this day will be donated to the Scholarship Fund of the Community Dharma Leaders Program (CDL) of Spirit Rock Meditation Center, dedicated to developing future Community Teachers. New York Insight has six trainees now in this program, who are able to participate only because of such assistance. Your attendance and donations will directly benefit our community.

Sharon Salzberg is cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts.
