10am–5pm
Everyone is aging. Do you want the process to be graceful and joyful, regardless of the physical and other problems that may come along? If so, then learn to apply open-minded mindfulness to the way you live. When we are young we can’t wait for the next year. By the time we get into our 30’s and beyond, we are trying to ignore it if not hold it back.
Our attitude about aging drives the way we age, and our thoughts and perspective drive our attitude. To age gracefully and joyfully we need to change our way of thinking and our behavior.
This one-day event provides a fresh perspective on the achievement of Nirvana, or freedom from suffering, that is founded on equanimity and the acceptance of the realities of impermanence, the illusory nature of self, and un-satisfactoriness or ‘un-ease’ of life in a human body.
In this workshop we will explore the way that the core teachings of Buddhism help us to age with courage, joy, and ease and to do what we can to help others age as well. We will practice Insight and clear light meditation techniques and simple but powerful breath and body awareness techniques that enhance our mindfulness, physical well being, and wisdom and cultivate a perspective that leads to freedom from the fear and unnecessary suffering that come as we age.
