The Four Noble Truths carry the Buddha’s essential teaching message. In four two-hour sessions over four weeks we will explore the meaning of the Truths and how they apply to participants’ daily lives in a very practical, personal, and experiential way. The Buddha taught “Suffering and the end to suffering.” Acknowledging that there is an underlying dissatisfaction is a first step towards achieving the promised peace of Nirvana. The Buddha taught that Nirvana is achieved by understanding the cause of suffering and then living life in a way that applies wisdom, ethical behavior, and meditation to eliminate the cause by tearing out its roots. The course will be taught with brief talks, in-session and “homework” exercises, and dialogue that promotes an experience of the meaning of the Truths. This course is for serious seekers who are ready to confront their condition and courageously take the path to liberation.
