Open Heart, Grounded Presence: these two qualities are signs of a vibrant and balanced inner life. They are also attitudes that can help us to explore and uncover the mind that is balanced and at ease, right in the middle of our lives, on retreat and off. In this retreat, through periods of sitting meditation using the breath as a base, in walking meditation, and in mindful discussion, we will explore these applications. Beginners and experienced meditators are welcome.

Matthew Daniell has been practicing Buddhist meditation and yoga for over 20 years. He studied Zen in Japan and Insight Meditation in India, Burma, and Thailand. His teachers include Munindra, Dipa Ma, Larry Rosenberg, Sharon Salzberg, and Joseph Goldstein. Matthew leads and co-leads retreats with Larry Rosenberg at the Insight Meditation Society, Omega, and Kripalu.  He also teaches insight meditation at Philips Exeter Academy, and academic and experiential Buddhism at Tufts University. He is a founder and the guiding teacher at the Insight Meditation Center of Newburyport, MA (IMCNewburyport.org).
