New York Insight Urban Weekend Retreat
with Rosemary Blake
Saturday, January 12th, 2019 | 10am – 6:00pm
Sunday, January 13th, 2019 | 10am – 5:00pm
We are surrounded by noise – of traffic, telephones, people, machines, the endless demands of technology, all of which can pull us away from present moment awareness. A silent meditation retreat is a period of extended inward reflection, a space to achieve greater clarity of mind.
Retreats are a major part of the practice of insight meditation. This two-day silent meditation retreat allows for a rich experience of sangha that occurs when you meditate with fellow yogis for an extended period of time. Being mindful whether you are standing, sitting, walking, eating, riding the subway or listening to the teachings can deepen concentration and create the conditions that cause continuity of mindfulness to arise. It is a rich opportunity to “train the mind.”
“Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.” –The Buddha
We suggested that you bring your lunch each day to maintain the meditative atmosphere and concentration. Individual teacher interviews will be offered.
So come and deepen your practice, whether you are an experienced retreatant or this is your first retreat. All are welcome.
Participants may register for either or both days. Registration is separate for each day. The registration fee includes teacher support. If you wish to give more in addition to the registration fee, the total (registration fees and additional contributions) will be shared between NYI and the teacher(s).
