Buddhist teachings tell us that our minds are clouded by delusion, and that our ways of seeing the world and ourselves are distorted and imperfect. What stops us from seeing things as they really are? It’s not their remoteness or obscurity — it is the fact that we have unconsciously erected mental filters that prevent us from seeing what’s right in front of our noses.

In this half-day workshop we’ll learn to find ways to take off those mental filters, even if just temporarily. For example, we’ll begin to directly experience truths such as:

– Love and compassion for all beings are available right here, right now.
– Deep peace is only a momentary shift in consciousness away.
– We can experience ourselves not as isolated selves but as the universe become conscious of itself.

Although we might think of these topics as advanced spiritual teachings, concerning remote experiences that we might never personally understand, we’ll approach them not conceptually, though philosophy, but as direct experience, through meditation practice. And we’ll come to see that the evidence for these things is before us, right here, right now, if we just open our eyes to the reality that’s in front of our noses.
