In-Person and Online: Beyond Metta – Cultivating All of the Brahma Viharas

with Elaine Retholtz

Mondays, September 16th – October 21st, 2024 | 9:30am – 11:30am ET

In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

Did you know that Metta, also known as “lovingkindness,” is just one of four Buddhist practices of love?

These practices are collectively known as the Brahma Viharas and include Metta (unconditional friendliness), Karuna (Compassion), Mudita (Empathetic or Resonant Joy), and Upekkha (Equanimity).

In this course, we will explore each of the Brahma Viharas, putting them into practice and uncovering the insights that arise from each.

Each session will open with a period of meditation, followed by an opportunity to connect other students. There will be group discussions exploring what you notice in your practice, and seasoned teacher Elaine Retholtz will offer supportive materials and suggestions for deepening your meditation. We close with sharing the merit of our practice and investigation.
