The New York Insight Meditation Center invites you to monthly Mindful Family Gatherings for parents and children!

Join us this fall for our new family and children’s program. Children will meet with teachers and experience the joy of community, spaciousness and mindful play while parents have the opportunity to meditate together as well as to discuss the joys and challenges of parenting.

We will offer two classes that meet at the same time for ages 4 – 7 and 8 – 12. Our classes will include a variety of age-appropriate meditations, art making, some movement or yoga, and discussion. We will be working with many experienced teachers over the course of these sessions who have done extensive training for offering mindful programs for children.

The goal of the family program is to provide a gentle and joyful environment for children and parents to explore their heart and mind and to develop a sense of community and support through the dharma.

We encourage our parents to stay and take this opportunity to connect with other parents, practice together and explore how to bring mindful practices into our families. If you are unable to stay for the duration of the session, your children are still welcome. (Note: children under 5 must have a parent in the space).

This monthly program will meet for two hours on:

Sunday, October 27th from 10am-12pm
Sunday, November 3rd from 10am-12pm
Sunday, December 8th from 10am-12pm

You are invited to bring a snack or a brown bag lunch and stay to mingle and get to know each other from noon to 1:00pm.

Parenting as Path Sitting & Discussion Group

During the children’s program, parents are welcome to have a discussion to explore and apply the principles of mindfulness and Buddhist culture in relating to one’s children. Children 3 and under are welcome to remain with their parents. Parents are also welcome to sit in the class with their children 5 and younger. The family program is a collaborative effort that is made possible through our teachers and parent participation.

Parenting as path is a parent run program and you are invited to organize and choose a book to read or a topic to explore.

We encourage families to sign up for the four sessions at $140 per child.
There is also a Drop in rate of $40.
