In-Person: Awake in Urban Nature – Winter Mini-hike and Walking Meditation
with Maho Kawachi
Saturday, December 7th, 2024 | 10:30am to 12:15pm
Location: Inwood Hill Park
Come and walk with us at the northern tip of Manhattan, in largest remaining old-growth forest on the island. Unlike other Manhattan parks, Inwood Hill Park is largely natural and consists of mostly wooded, non-landscaped hills. During the 80-minute excursion (apx 1.5 miles), we will practice walking and standing meditation. You will have an opportunity to contemplate this unique terrain and beautiful vistas of the Hudson River.
This gathering will be conducted in Noble Silence. There will be time for sharing at the end. Beginners and seasoned practitioners all welcome.
Meet up details: 10:30 am, playground at the corner of Dyckman Street and Payson Avenue (15-minute walk from #1 train, Dyckman Street station; 7-minute walk from A train, Dyckman Street station). Light rain or shine.
