In-Person and Online: Hungry Ghosts & Angry Demons – Addressing the Roots of Addictive Behaviors

with Josh Korda and Kathy Cherry

Sunday, April 13th, 2025 | 10:00am – 4:00pm ET

In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

Many of us struggle with addictive behaviors, incessant thoughts, and other unruly tendencies. While these things are part of the “human condition,” the Buddhist tradition offers some insights into how we can start to work with, and heal, these ways of coping with our world.

Over the course of this daylong retreat, we’ll discuss the mental processes and early relational wounds underlying maladaptive, compulsive tendencies that are difficult to alleviate. Together we’ll explore meditation and awareness practices as a path forward.

Buddhist teachers and Dharmapunx co-founders Josh Korda and Kathy Cherry will integrate insights from early Buddhist traditions with contemporary therapeutic modalities, neuropsychology, and attachment theory. In addition to insight meditation, Josh and Kathy will introduce visualization practices, Somatic awareness and regulation, and breathwork, as a part of a framework for working with our inner demons. There will be time for questions, light movement, and community interaction.
