In-Person and Online: Buddhism As a Spiritual Path

with Peter Doobinin

Friday, February 7th, 2025 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET

In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

The Buddha is sometimes referred to as a “spiritual doctor.” As such, he was concerned with alleviating the spiritual disease that we, as human beings, suffer. He called this spiritual disease dukkha, often translated as suffering. Dukkha blocks us from our goodness, from wisdom and love, from the heart.

In this special evening talk, teacher Peter Doobinin will discuss how the Buddha understood our human afflictions and how we might alleviate them. Special attention will be given to contemplating the various forms of clinging: chasing after worldly pleasures; attachment to views and opinions; preoccupation with social conventions; and grasping various forms of self identity.

The cure for our spiritual disease is found in following the spiritual path the Buddha laid out for us. It includes the cultivation of generosity, skillful action, and meditation. In taking this course of treatment, we develop in wisdom and love.

The evening will include meditation, teaching, and discussion. All are welcome to attend.
