Climate Justice Through Racial Justice March and Rally
Sunday, September 20th, 2020 beginning at 1:00pm from Columbus Circle
The events of recent months – from the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on Black, Brown and Indigenous people, to the uprisings against rampant police brutality – have shone a light, once again, on the racial injustices woven into our society.
The impacts of the climate crisis are yet another form of this injustice, and we simply cannot address the climate crisis without addressing racism. As Hop Hopkins of the Sierra Club stated so clearly in his essay Racism is Killing the Planet, “You can’t have climate change without sacrifice zones, and you can’t have sacrifice zones without disposable people, and you can’t have disposable people without racism.” As individuals and groups concerned about the climate and about justice, we must speak out.
Join us for the Climate Justice Through Racial Justice March and Rally!
Sunday, September 20, 1pm
