Tushar D. Bhagat

Dr. Tushar D. Bhagat is an accomplished cancer scientist with over 15 years of experience and a distinguished faculty member in medical education.

He has facilitated numerous Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programs and other stress alleviation initiatives at prestigious institutions such as Columbia University, The Brooklyn Hospital, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Cancer Center. His expertise has benefitted a diverse range of participants, including cancer patients, Ph.D. and medical students, residents and fellows, physicians, therapists, scientists, and healthcare staff.

Rooted in a rich heritage of yoga and mindfulness from his upbringing in India, Dr. Bhagat received his early training in yoga and meditation from his parents. For the past 30 years, his meditation practice has been grounded in the Vipassana tradition as taught by S.N. Goenka. He actively engages with and learns from the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, the Zen-Thich Nhat Hanh Plum Village community, and the Brahmakumaris.

Dr. Bhagat is a professionally trained MBSR instructor from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and Brown University and serves as an MBSR teacher trainer at Mindful Northwest. He has guided participants from across the U.S. and around the world, sharing his deep belief in the transformative power of science-based mindfulness practices to reduce stress and enhance well-being.

He is committed to teaching integrative mindfulness practices that foster a happier, more content, and meaningful life for his participants.
