Mindfulness of Thinking
with Peter Doobinin
Saturday, July 27th, 2019 | 10:00am to 5:00pm
In this daylong retreat, we’ll explore how we develop the skill of mindfulness of thinking. We’ll talk about the practice the Buddha, as a Bodhisattva seeking awakening, practiced in his efforts to abandon unskillful thinking and cultivate skillful thinking. And we’ll talk about how we can use this same practice in our meditation and in our lives in our own efforts to find a greater happiness.
As the Buddha tells us, his ability to observe his thinking was pivotal in his journey; when he established his ability to practice mindfulness of thinking, he was then able to develop the skills of concentration and discernment that led to his awakening. The day will include sitting and walking meditation, teaching, and discussion. All are welcome to attend (some meditation experience is useful but not required).
