Online: Persistence in the Face of Adversity

with Ayyā Somā

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm ET

The ever-changing nature of experience means that sooner or later difficulties will come our way. While our natural response may be to shrink away, the Buddha encourages practitioners to contemplate the source of our discomfort, no matter its form. Once we truly understand the nature of pain, loss, oppression, and despair, we can make the appropriate response and be free from the suffering they cause.

This evening is co-presented by Buddhist Insights.

Ayya Soma

Ayya Soma is an Italian Buddhist monk and co-abbot of Empty Cloud Monastery in New Jersey. As the co-founder of Buddhist Insights, a non-profit organization connecting people with monastics, she has learned the Dharma through the perspective of monks of all different traditions, and incorporates aspects from all of them in her own practice. Her spiritual path is inspired by the social engagement of her preceptor, Venerable Paññāvati Bhikkhuni; by the knowledge and wisdom of Ven. Robina Courtin; and by the compassion of Khenmo Drolma.
