The Way of Effortless Mindfulness Daylong Retreat
with Loch Kelly
Saturday, June 29th, 2019 | 10:00am – 5:00pm
This daylong retreat and book signing is based on Loch Kelly’s new book, The Way of Effortless Mindfulness. In the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist tradition, meditation is taught in two stages. The first is deliberate mindfulness, which includes one-pointed focus and insight meditation. The second practice is called effortless mindfulness, not because no initial effort is made, but because of the discovery of an awareness that is already awake and has natural compassion.
We can begin with deliberate mindfulness as a good foundation or start with effortless mindfulness. In this daylong retreat, we will learn how to unhook awareness from thinking and have it turn around to be aware from awake awareness.
Rather than concentrating to calm and focus your mind, we will learn to intentionally shift into awake awareness, which is already calm, intelligent, and able to effortlessly focus. This is an important practice to learn for your journey of awakening. Effortless mindfulness helps us shift from a self-centered identity to an empty, yet open-hearted, way of seeing and being.
Loch Kelly is also leading an evening book signing and talk on Friday, June 28th, 2019. Click here for more information and registration.
